From May 2012 until July 2013, I was the Enterprise Consultant at University of Bristol.
In this role, I acted as the liaison between the University’s Enterprise Managers and the student body. Day to day, I facilitated the work of the Student Enterprise Societies: Bristol Entrepreneurs, Bristol Social Enterprise and Enactus Bristol. I helped each society plan speaker events, workshops, enterprise projects and challenges involving local and national businesses. Generally, I took a lead on engaging students in enterprise at University of Bristol; connecting with just under 2,500 students every week. It was a fantastic year; we broke all kinds of records, strongly increased the number of students engaging in enterprise and delivered a much broader range of activities. I personally either run or supported 80 events over the year. I also co-ran Basecamp, our student business incubator, which very closely supported 130 businesses in that academic year. One of the larger events is the Bristol Social Enterprise Conference which brings together students, staff and social entrepreneurs to discuss and debate issues surrounding social enterprise. Further to this, I also helped oversee other student-related enterprise activities including: the New Enterprise Competition, SETsquared competitions and more. I have took the lead on distributing the University of Bristol 'Try It' Awards, a fund of £30,000 that came out of some UnLtd HEFCE funding which is granted to students running social enterprises. I have also sat on assessment panels for ‘Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Enterprise’ (Faculty of Engineering), ‘University of Bristol “Try it” Awards’ and various interviews. |

Many of the enterprise activities that I directly managed during my time as Enterprise Consultant won awards. These include:
- Basecamp, "Best Student Enterprise Activity", SETsquared Awards
- Bristol Social Enterprise Society, "Venture Creation", NACUE (National Association of College & University Entrepreneurs)
