The Looprevil Press
The Looprevil Press is the official student newspaper at Liverpool John Moores University.
I helped form the paper in September 2008 alongside student Shamit Patel and a small team of writers, editors, website developers and photographers. The paper is currently the only student newspaper in circulation in Liverpool.
The name, The Looprevil Press, is simply Liverpool spelledbackwards and plays in with our tag line of “Bringing you the other side of Liverpool”. This was done in an attempt to reflect the duality of student life, to show that we can be both professional and a little eccentric.
The Looprevil Press started out as this website whichcontains four sections; News, Opinion, Entertainment and Sports. After the growing success of the website and some union funding, we were able to go into print in September 2010. The printed issue comes out quarterly throughout the academic year.
The Looprevil Press has been one of the most successful societies at the union and this fact has been compounded by winning Best New Society in 2009 and Best Society in 2010 at the LSU awards. As of May 2009, The Looprevil Press has been funded by the Liverpool Students’ Union.
Since I left The Looprevil Press, the team have also established Looprevil Radio (formerly ShoutRadio) as the official radio station at the student union. Looprevil Radio andThe Looprevil Press work closely together in order to keep the students of LJMU up to date and entertained with all the latest news, sports andother reports.
